January - a month filled with dreams, goals, motivation and leftover chocolate from Christmas.
Over the Christmas break I FINALLY had some time to dedicate just to the business. I loved every moment of it. I had been feeling exhausted before Christmas as running The Amyverse and working full-time was becoming impossible. I felt bad for my husband as I would get home from work and start working on The Amyverse. So over Christmas I almost had TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT of doing what I love. I felt so inspired and full of energy. It is amazing the difference doing what you love has on your well-being. I felt calmer, more positive and my health was better too.
My husband and I sat next to each other for most of the time. I was busy designing new cards, making my Etsy shop and designing my website, while he reverted back to being a teenage boy spending the day playing computer games and bringing me coffee. I loved it so much. Going back to work was so hard. I’d loved spending so much time together and I had loved spending time only thinking about The Amyverse.
January has been a huge goal setting month for me and preparing for the rest of the year. I have brought the Design trust Dream Plan Do journal and one of the tasks for January is to pick your word for the year. I chose confidence. I want to be confident in what I create and my brand. I can avoid opportunities because I worry and get too anxious. So this year is going to be about pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and being confident. One of my challenges is to write a blog. This is not something that I would naturally do but I want to share more about what goes on in The Amyverse.
I think it is so important to celebrate success so I want this blog to always end with some highlights from the month and things I am looking forward too.
The Amyverse’s January achievements:
I have launched my website
I started selling on Etsy. I had been putting it off for so long. I finished Janaury with 39 sales on Etsy which I feel pretty proud of.
My cards are now stocked in two shops - The Neighbourhood Store and Harriets of Hove Brighton
I’ve got a new part-time job so that I can spend two days per week on The Amyverse and actually have weekends again. Hurrah!!! I don’t remember the last time I didn’t make something at the weekend. It will take me a while to adjust.
I collaborated with the lovely Little Bee Bakes for our instagram giveaway. If you don’t know about Jess’ bakes you neeeeed to follow her! She also sent me one of her selection boxes which was a definite highlight of January.
I met up with the wonderful Rachel from Budding Sensations and I am going to be making cards for all her couples for first anniversary, wedding, and Christmas. She has ordered 225 cards from me so I am going to be a busy bee!
I did a styled shoot with Place Settings. Once I get the photos I will definitely blog about this! I loved the stationery I created for it.
How was all of this in January!? My goodness… no wonder I feel so tired.
Looking forward:
The Amyverse goals for 2019. If I write them down, I have to do them.
I’d love to stock my cards in more shops
Go to a craft fair
Have a stall at a wedding fair
Develop more partnerships and collaborations
Thank you so much for reading :)
Much love,
Amy
